Herbie & The Love Bug

Herbie

Way back in the sixties I watched The Love Bug at the Gaumont cinema in Norwich with complimentary tickets. This was to kindly ensure that I was not libeled as the crooked car salesman played by the popular, talented actor David Tomlinson was called Peter Thorndyke.

It was a very good film, considered by many to be the best of the series. Today Herbie has a huge following throughout the world. Needless to say, I must consider The Love Bug to be very special. If anybody has an original white beetle I would be happy for a ride just so you can cheat and say that Peter Thorndyke, car salesman, was driven in your car. Don't think it will add to the value though.

Herbie

For quite some time I had believed there was need to be satisfied in helping the public sell their cars. So often you see an interesting car for sale, you catch the price but not the telephone number else you are in a hurry  or you just cannot turn round in the traffic. When you can get back it has moved, about it's business. It can be days before you make contact. Sometimes it will simply pass you on the road. The price and age are right but how can you contact the owner.

Hence, the stay-put, easily removable sticker

to advise a web site holding the details of  your vehicle and your telephone number and photographs, large and larger, all available 24 hours a day.
